'It's like they never miss a pass': The Swans' Galbraith resumes battle with City.

Ethan Galbraith grins broadly as he recalls the nail-biting dying seconds of his team's remarkable turnaround victory against Nottingham Forest in the League Cup. The encounter culminated with Galbraith picking up a spectator's eyewear following the post-goal scrum.

As the match entered added time, Galbraith struck the post with a long-range strike from outside the box, and Cameron Burgess promptly converted the rebound before racing off toward the home end to celebrate, with supporters swarming the players.

Extraordinary Turnaround

This capped an extraordinary comeback given Swansea had been behind 2-0 midway through the latter period. Amid the delirium, there was some minor mishaps. He shared, "There was a spectator sort of calling out and myself and Keysy [Josh Key] were thinking: 'What's he on about here?' Then we noticed the glasses. It was a light-hearted moment putting them on. We are on the pitch as athletes but we're individuals, too, so to have a laugh with the fans is always good."

Pep Guardiola Test

The result secured a next round game at home against the Premier League champions on Wednesday, a club Galbraith ran close at the comparable phase of the FA Cup with his former club in February. He had a prime vantage point when Orient took the lead in spectacular fashion, with the attacker's first-time shot from about long distance going in via the bar and the opposition keeper. It feels criminal that it was deemed an own goal.

"You would have hoped they would've credited him for attempting the shot from that range," says Galbraith, who played in the middle before switching to right flank after the team changed tactics. That meant facing off against the England international, with whom he swapped shirts, and the winger was among the opposition who paid tribute to the way his former team approached the match.

Opponent's Class

"Physically they are exceptional but even the simple things and routine actions, they can just do it over and over again," he explains. "It feels like they always find their target and they know how to manage and neutralize a game. You can feel you're holding your own and then abruptly they will just thread a ball through a line without you even seeing. You have to be switched on every second of the game. It requires a resilient mindset and attention just to remain competitive."

Welsh Transition

Swansea pushed to sign Galbraith in January and secured his signature to secure him in the summer in a £1.5m deal. He became a favorite as a fans' favourite across two seasons at Orient and has rapidly achieved similar status in his new home. At his previous team he linked up again with the coach, who previously gave Galbraith his debut prolonged spell in first-team action on loan at his loan club from Manchester United. Then came a temporary move at fourth-tier Salford City, before he departed Manchester United.

Growth Journey

"I was probably a bit naive going into professional soccer. I think numerous professionals would say youth team games is very different. Sometimes it seems the ball is moved without much intensity. There are limited physical contests. Once you start playing first-team football you have to learn quickly."

Country Call-ups

He has demonstrated that development for both domestically and internationally, excelling for his national side, who are fighting to qualify for the global tournament next summer via the qualifying rounds and for whom he has been selected in the last several matches, including home and away games against a football powerhouse. His former international manager, Galbraith's previous international manager, gave him the supreme accolade, saying he was Northern Ireland's "little Iniesta or Xavi" given how he manipulates the ball and his knack for a killer pass.

Early Days

This represents a remarkable path for the kid from the neighborhood in Glengormley, just outside Northern Ireland's main city, who grew up watching his parent, the elder Galbraith, also a midfielder, play for a local club.

Old Trafford Memory

Galbraith's only game for the Red Devils came in Kazakhstan in 2019, a Europa League trip to the host city, where they played on an artificial pitch and the venue ceiling was closed owing to temperatures of freezing cold. "It was a extended travel and it was chilly," he recalls, chuckling. "The days leading up, the academy prospects practiced as a group, so that assisted our preparation. Just to travel with the first team and make an appearance at the end was unbelievable."

Leaving United

What was the challenge was it to move on from Old Trafford, the club he joined from Linfield aged his mid-teens? "This turned out quite easy, because I got to the stage where I knew I couldn't establish myself at the senior squad. I'm very appreciative for the experience gained but it got to the point where I thought I had to take a different path, move to a lower level and play first-team games. Now I'm steadily climbing the ladder."

Life in Swansea

This occurs during the middle of the day at the team's practice facility but Galbraith has somewhere to be at 5pm: a road rules assessment, another move in the direction of getting on the road. Until recently to his new neighborhood, the young professional was a constant rider in Swansea's so-called fun bus, a minibus driven by team personnel, the drivers, which transports players to and from sessions and fixtures.

"It's myself a teammate, another squad member, the midfielder – the Swedish defender used to be in it but has got his license. It's pleasant to spend time with the lads but I'm hoping to be the next one out of the minibus and driving. Franco likes to pull a few pranks; he's frequently playing tricks."

Fan Interactions

During his time at his former club, Galbraith would travel alongside followers on London's Central line after beginning his trip at Brentwood. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
