Local Police
Approximately fifty cars have been smeared with what appears to be blood from a person in the German town of Hanau close to Frankfurt, as reported by police.
Vehicles, exterior walls and postal boxes were vandalized, sometimes with prohibited symbols, they stated in a statement.
Police state they were contacted late on Wednesday, when a resident observed that a automobile in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish substance.
The substance had been drawn in the form of a swastika, they stated.
Law enforcement then located numerous other smeared vehicles and house walls in the surrounding area.
Swastikas are banned in Germany under legislation outlawing the public exhibition of symbols from the Nazi era.
Police report early analysis show the substance was probably human blood.
"At present there remains no lead as to where it came from; investigators are currently not informed of any physical harm in connection with the event," they commented.
Local authorities said they were attempting "to solve the incident" and have appealed to the community for details.
A senior political figure stated the incident made him stunned and needed to be solved rapidly.
"This event hits the center of Hanau and reawakens the trauma of the right-wing attack five years ago," he posted on a platform, mentioning the death of nine individuals by a shooter focusing on individuals of immigrant origin in February 2020.
